We wanted to put a spotlight on the children of the Kibera slum in Nairobi, to show the world that regardless of the different circumstances of a child’s life, they all have hopes and dreams for the future.
The film highlights the exchange of culture, ideas and new possibilities realized through a creative arts program lead by the GoodMakers Street Team in partnership with the non-profit organization, ‘Flying Kites Global’ and a professional local dance group, Dashy Krew.
Two camera crews followed the creative teams as they worked with the various orphanages, helping the children to create unique performances through spoken word, dance and song. Â
This film will show that collaboration with local partners and communities is key to bridging cultural gaps and creating sustainability.
