Good Morrow friendsâ€¦.Happy Thursday.
I went all holiday on myself on Monday and ateâ€¦and ate and ate. Â Healthy things, mind you, shrimp and fruit smoothies and sweet potato (chipsâ€¦. almost hid that ‘chip’ part from you) and found myself in BBQ heaven.
Go for it. Â Its memorial day.
However, the next morning my body looked at me and said, “really? Â You went there?” Â I did, body. Â I went there.
So herein starts my smoothie fast.
A smoothie fast, you say? Â Why yesâ€¦I dig juice fasts but haven’t been able to sustain any of them, I need my protein. Â I’m mean without my protein. Â So smoothies shall be my food from the earth. Â ANd my gift to my body.
You are welcome to join me, you are welcome to smile and eat spaghetti. Â Nevertheless, here’s my smoothie journey. Â Most recipes will come from my best friend and connoisseur of all things flavor, Marushka. Â We are rebalancing the food pyramid, and so far, its delicious.
Marushka’s Mango Lassi
- 1/2 Â cup nonfat yogurt (Coconut yogurt is the best, go for “So Delicious” brand).
- 1/4 coconut milk
- 1 mango or healthy handful of frozen mango chunks
- about 4 tablespoons honey
- Small handful of ice cubes
- 1 plantain
- 1/2 tablespoon vanilla hemp or whey protein (for those interested)
Play around with consistency – adding more milk or yogurt as needed/desired – this gives a lovely, whipped consistency. Â It feels like dessert. Â Pour a little rum in there and I swear I won’t tell anyone.
